The Part on the SQL Server

The Portalsuite 2002 saves all information in a SQL data base.

Presently the Portalsuite supports already various data bases but has been exclusively developed and tested under MySQL up to now. For this reason we currently recommend „MySQL“ as SQL server for operation. The SQL server can both, be laid out as dedicated server or run on the web server as SQL service.

The installation is quite concise and is subdivided into the following steps:

Step 1: Apply data base
Apply a new data base, named – for instance - „ps2002“. Hereto use the following command under Linux:

mysqladmin –u root –p create ps2002

Step 2: Authorisations
Depending on the standard security procedures and features of the SQL servers the data base has to be made accessible for the web server. In case of MySQL this is done through corresponding datasets in the data base „mysql“ in the tables „host“, „db“ and „users“.
