Installation and General Information

The Portalsuite 2002 has been radically restructured at several spots, therefore the installation should be simpler in general.

The file extension has been changed to „.php“ which is preconfigured as standard normally. Therefore it should be unnecessary in the future to configure the web server regarding file extensions. This should result in better compatibility with most of the internet service provider.

The Portalsuite 2002 does not need different sub domains anymore for each application but can be operated with just one IP or sub domain. Thus the installation is easier as well, since corresponding adaptations at the web server and name server configuration become unnecessary. Also this change becomes an advantage when you install the Portalsuite at an internet service provider.

Through the merging of the applications onto one sub domain resp. IP address now there is only one central configuration file. Furthermore the configuration file contains only data base parameters, all other configuration parameter are stored in the data base. Through this transparency is increased and the configuration has become even more comfortable.

In other respects there are no major changes of the installation, except the items mentioned above, which are described step by step in chapter 4.
